Malam penghargaan film terbaik tahunan paling bergengsi di dunia, The 85th Academy Awards atau yang lebih dikenal sebagai Oscar baru saja usai digelar di Dolby Theater, Hollywood, Los Angeles, AS pada Minggu (24/2) malam waktu setempat. Selama 3,5 jam acara ini berjalan dipandu untuk pertama kalinya oleh aktor merangkap komedian Seth McFarlane.

Argo yang disutradarai oleh Ben Affleck terpilih sebagai pemenang kategori Best Picture sementara Ang Lee yang menjadi sutradara film Life of Pi terpilih sebagai Best Director. Jennifer Lawrence yang bermain di film Silver Linings Playbook terpilih sebagai Best Actress dan Daniel Day-Lewis yang memerankan Abraham Lincoln di film Lincoln terpilih sebagai Best Actor. Dalam sejarah digelarnya Oscar selama 85 tahun terakhir baru Lewis aktor yang berhasil memenangkan Oscar sebanyak tiga kali.

Life of Pi tercatat sebagai film yang paling banyak membawa pulang trofi Oscar pada tahun ini, sebanyak 4 trofi untuk kategori Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Visual Effects dan Best Original Score.
